USD 407 Russell County to host the USDA Summer Food Service Program beginning on June 1 and ending on July 23. The program site will be Simpson Elementary School, 1323 N Main Street, in Russell. Students aged 1-18 can eat for free each day. Grab-and-go style meals will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. No meals will be served on Friday, July 3. A hot lunch will be provided along with the next day's breakfast. Adults may purchase breakfast and lunch for $9.00.
Parents can pick up meals without children present if documentation is on file with the program. Here is the link for the parent meal pick-up form: https://forms.gle/A6acxmKYaKgV4MLe7. If you are unable to access the online form, paper forms will be available at the site.
In a change from previous years, daycares are allowed to pick up meals, but all children must be present to access the meals. Also, the daycare should not be on a food program to qualify for this option.
We look forward to serving you at the summer meal program. Any questions or concerns, please contact Angie McKenna, Food Service Director, at 785-483-2173 or by email at amckenna@usd407.org.
