25+ Years of Service to Education

On behalf of Russell County USD 407 and Kansas University School of Education, Mrs. Lawrence presented 23 certified staff members with a Certificate of Recognition for 25+ years of service to the field of education.  It is with great honor that USD 407 in conjuction with KU recognize our staff for this milestone in their career.

Collectively, this group of 23 individuals has served as educators for a total of 781 years with 547 years of those years served here at Russell County USD 407. There is an enormous amount of knowledge and service to education in this group.

On Monday, May 15, 2017, the Board of Education voted unanimously to accept $16,636.84 in grant funds provided by the Russell County Area Community Foundation. Angie Muller, Executive Director of the Foundation, was in attendance to present the funds. Angela Lawrence, Trent Braun, Larry Bernard, and James Martin accepted the funds.

Grant funds are earmarked for the following projects:

Russell County USD 407

  • $10,000 – Lightspeed Software (Grant Writer: Trent Braun)

Bickerdyke Elementary School

  • $5,000– NGSS Science Stations (Grant Writer: Kim Boxberger)

Russell High School

  • $543.84 – Bronco Radio (Grant Writer: James Martin)
  • $1,093 – Student Athlete Rehabilitation Equipment ( Grant Writer: Andy Hurla)


CONGRATULATIONS to the grant writers for securing additional funds for USD 407!



 The Board of Education adopted a resolution on February 13th to modify their regular monthly meeting dates from the second Monday of each month to the third Monday of each month for the remainder of the 2016-2017 school year beginning in April.  The new meeting dates include:

March 13, 2017
April 17, 2017
May 15, 2017
June 19, 2017
July 17, 2017

All meetings will be held at the Central Administration Office located at 802 N. Main in Russell beginning at 5:30 p.m. All meetings are open to the public and patrons are encouraged to attend.

Meeting dates for the 2017-2018 school year will be established at the July 17, 2017 organizational meeting.

2016 – 2017 EVENT CALENDAR
