Couch

Michael Couch will be interviewing for the position of superintendent with the Board of Education on January 16, 2023.

Couch is the first of three candidates that the USD 407 Board of Education will be interviewing. Candidates were selected for interviews based on their fit with desired characteristics that were developed with input from focus groups and an online community survey utilized during the search process.

Michael Couch is currently serving as the Kickapoo Nation School Superintendent in Powhattan, Kansas. He is in his first year in this position. Previously, Couch served as superintendent for a total of 12 years in USD 364 Marysville Schools, USD 109 Republic County Schools, and USD 474 Haviland Schools. In addition, Couch has 14 years of experience as an elementary and middle school principal. Prior to his administration experience, Couch taught English and Math at the middle school level and served as an adjunct faculty member for Kansas Newman University.
