Graduation Caps & Diplomas

Press Release: May 8, 2020

RUSSELL - Upon receiving specific guidance from the Governor’s Office today, the May 16, 2020 Senior Celebration as was planned for next Saturday evening will be rescheduled.

Kansas school districts received a letter from the Office of Governor Laura Kelly that will prompt an immediate adherence to the following two rules:

WE MUST ADHERE TO 2 RULES FOR PHASE 1:

  1. ABSOLUTELY NO in person graduation ceremonies.
  2. ABSOLUTELY NO mass gatherings over 10 people inside or outside.

Below is an important 6 Minutes with Swayne that will walk you through the information presented.

We would also like to share the results of our Graduation Ceremony Date/Time Survey.

There was a substantial majority vote for Saturday, June 20, 2020. It is our current plan to host the ceremony outside at Shaffer Field at 10:00 AM. Additional details will follow as we get closer to the graduation ceremony date.

Plan A: Host the traditional ceremony at Shaffer Field at 10:00 AM

Plan B: Host the ceremony according to the social distance guidelines from the state in accordance to the Ad Astra Reopening Plan under Executive Order 20-29.

We will remain in contact with our graduating seniors and families through email and their Senior 2020 Google Classroom.
