Driver’s Education is being offered again this year at Russell High School. Mr. Dwight Windle will be the instructor for the course. The classroom portion will begin June 1 and the driving portion will begin on June 15, and will be completed by July 3, 2020.
There will be a student/parents meeting with Mr. Windle on March 12, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. in the Russell High School Lunchroom. The school nurse will be there to do vision screening. The Driver Education Application form will be an online application. How this affects the students is that there will not be any paper form for them or you the parents to worry about. You will complete the Driver Education Application form at the meeting. There is a two dollar ($2.00) processing fee for the application. There is also a $200 fee for the course payable to Russell High School which is due by May 1, 2020.
Students must be 14 years of age or older by June 1, 2020. A student may miss no more than one day during the classroom session. Any day missed will be made up on June 12. If a student misses a scheduled driving day, he or she will be dropped from the class unless prior approval from the instructor and NO REFUNDS will be given.
The grading scale will be as follows: 90% and above A, 80% and above B, 70% and above C, 60% and above D. 80% mastery must be met in both the classroom and behind the wheel.
Due to student safety and the amount of material, which needs to be covered, inappropriate student conduct will not be tolerated and will result in student dismissal from the Driver Education Program.
Driving time will be set up at the start of the classroom session. A calendar with driving times for each group will be set up by Mr. Windle. If all goes well, the students will complete this class by July 3, 2020. Please contact the High School office at 785-483-5631 to place your student on the sign-up sheet.
