Current Position:

Began as USD #407 Special Education Director on July 1, 2016. 

Previous Position:

History of educational career:

Taught vocal/general music, for grades ranging from K-8th, and band--in Garden City, USD 457. Began in 1981. Worked in this position for a total of 17 years. Concurrently worked as Fine Arts Curriculum Specialist for 7 years.

Moved to administration position in Montezuma, as the Community Learning Center director, 2003.

Worked in Chetopa-St. Paul, USD 505, as Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment and Vice Principal K-12//K-6 Principal. 

Worked at the Kansas Department of Education, as a field-based Education Program Consultant, for the Early Childhood, Special Education, and Title team.


Educational philosophy

All students can learn. High expectations are necessary for all staff and students. We can all make a difference for all students, including students with special learning needs and exceptionalities. All means ALL.

Family Information:

Married to Eugene Kemper in 1982.

Children: Levi, born in 1991 and Rose, born in 1997.

Levi graduated from South Gray High School in Montezuma (2010) and Oral Roberts University (2014), with a BSN in nursing and works as a surgical trauma ICU nurse in Tulsa. He is married to Kelsey (2013), who also graduated from ORU—with a degree in TV-drama. You may have seen her in the Walmart commercial with Ree Drummond last fall! They have a cute puppy, Maximus Darth Vader Strongbow Kemper! 

Rose graduated from Connections Academy High School (virtual high school out of Elkhart, Ks) this past May (2016). She will be attending FHSU in the fall, majoring in graphic design.
