Vocal Music Teacher
Graduated from Russell High School 2005
Bachelor of Music and voice from Loyola University New Orleans
Master of Music and voice from the University of Kansas
I have been teaching in Russell since March of 2014, when I came in as a long term substitute teacher. Since then I have been employed full time at USD 407 and I couldn't be happier. I conduct five choirs between RMS and RHS, as well as directing the musical. My students take part in a music festival contests and eight different clinic choirs each year, all on top of four RHS and three RMS concerts. I certainly keep busy throughout the year, but nothing compared to how busy I keep my students!
Before I started teaching as USD 407 I was working as a freelance professional singer. I performed in operas, taught privately, sang in professional choirs, and worked as a professional liturgical singer. I often get asked when I realized that I wanted to be a teacher. The honest answer is that being a musician and being a teacher has always been the same thing to me. I've always found joy in sharing my music and musical knowledge with others. So, when I was offered a job teaching music in Russell, it was a totally natural fit for me, and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity.
