I graduated from Russell High School in 1976 and from the Universiy of Kansas in 1980. I went back to FHSU in 1981 and graduated in 1986.
I received my Elementary Education degree from the University of Kansas in 1980 and my Master's degree from Fort Hays State University in 1986.
I have attended a multitude of professional development workshops/conferences over my career. I am a certified Junior Great Books leader, have presented on the Six-Trait Writing model at FHSU, have been trained in Kagan's cooperative learning model, and continue training on website development.
I began my career with USD 407 in 1981. This is my 37th year as an educator in this district. I currently teach Science and Socials Studies to all 5th graders. I am the administrator of the BES website and the Science Fair coordinator, as well.
I began my career in Special Education as a paraprofessional in the Gifted program as well as a 1/2 time teacher in what was called the SCORE program. I then moved into a teaching position in the Gifted program working with 3rd grade through 8th grade students district-wide. Later, I was moved into a half-time 5th grade teaching position along with half-time Gifted Education facilitator. I am currently teaching 5th grade Science and Social Studies.
