Kansas Association of School Boards has provided an election guide to aid interested candidates and can be accessed by clicking here. Candidates are also welcome and encouraged to come to the Central Administration Office and visit with Shelly Swayne, Superintendent, to gather additional information about becoming a board member.
Four (4) positions of the Russell County USD 407 Board of Education will be on the ballot as part of the November 2019 general election and include:
Position I: Vacant
Position II: Duane Adams
Position III: Andrea Krug Krauss
Position IV: Char Sohm
Interested candidates must visit the Russell County Clerk’s office to complete a Declaration of Intent and pay a $20 filing fee. In addition, candidates will need to comply with the provisions of the Campaign Finance Act and complete a Statement of Substantial Interest for Local Office.
Voting districts do not apply to school board elections in USD 407 as all members are elected at-large. Interested candidates MUST be registered voters and reside within USD 407 boundaries. Candidates CANNOT be an employee of the board on which they are a member. Below is an election timeline.
Filing Deadline: June 3, 2019
Primary Election: August 6, 2019
General Election: November 5, 2019
Take Office: January 13, 2020
