WINNERS, again

September 14, the Cougar Yearbook staff participated in the annual Jostens’s Workshop. Advised by Deb Feil, the staff members include: seniors Bessie Harp and James Shiroky, and juniors Samantha Schneider, C.J. Ridgley, Erica Palmer, and Nathan Ellis. The staff learned about designing double page spreads, taking cool photos, writing captions, and they took part in several competitions with other schools.

The competitions included the annual skit face-off where the students create an original skit that explains who they are and why they should win the coveted prize of free end sheets for their yearbook. Having won for the last five years, this year’s staff had a tradition, and a reputation, to maintain which they did with a remix of the Happy Days theme song. Dressed in traditional 70’s outfits, poodle skirts, leather jackets, and scarves, they belted out their song complete with actions, and won for the sixth time in a row.

“When everyone told me that they’d lost I believed them, especially when Bessie told me that she wouldn’t lie to me, and they all looked so sad. Then they cracked and showed me our certificate,” says Deb Feil, advisor. “It was loads of fun,” says Erica Palmer.
