SHhhh…

It was all suppose to be just for fun. They were just trying to make the most of Halloween. All they wanted to do was have fun and scare each other. To feel the true meaning of Halloween. They had no idea it would end up that way.
It all started as a regular school day-- attending classes, listening to boring lectures, and trying to get homework done before the weekend. A group of teenagers sat in study hall, trying to decide what they could do to make this Halloween more fun.
“What are we going to do this weekend? We have to do something fun,” said Susan.
“ We could all meet at my house and do something. But I really don’t know what we could do,” said Tina. “Hey I have a great idea! I’ve got an old Ouija board at home. We could try to call up evil spirits,” Tina suggested.
“That would be really fun! Lets make it a night to remember!” said Brenda.
“I have always wondered what it would be like to talk to some spirits,” said Dana.
“ Hey, guess what? I have the perfect place! You know that old house my parents’ own? No one has been in there for years. What if we played the game in there?” said Anna.
So the gang agreed that this would be the perfect place to spend their Halloween.
“Where’s the light switch?” whined Susan, as she stepped carefully into the dusty cobwebbed entryway.
“Duh! There’s no electricity. There hasn’t been for years. Why do you think we have flashlights?” said Anna.
The girls stumbled and giggled down a long dark hallway, their flashlight beams leading their way. After making their way upstairs, they found an empty room and decided to set up their game there. Once all the girls were gathered around, Tina told them how to begin. “All non-believers should leave now.” All the girls looked at one another and then burst into laughter. “I’m serious, guys, you have to take this seriously or it won’t work.”
Just as all the girls placed their fingers on the game piece and the room got quiet, the door burst open and Susan screamed. Cassie and Elizabeth came running in, laughing hysterically.
“Haha! We scared you!” laughed Elizabeth.
“You should have seen your faces!” cried Cassie.
“Very funny guys. Now sit down and shut up!” said Brenda.
“ Come on guys, Nobody knows we’re here. We have to keep quiet. I don’t want to get in trouble,” said Anna.
The girls settled down and began their game.
“Wow that was really fun. It didn’t even work,” said Dana.
“Well you should have took it more seriously,” said Tina.
“I was trying to, but Cassie and Elizabeth kept laughing,’ said Susan.
“Sorry,” said Cassie and Elizabeth.
“Come on guys. I thought it was fun, and remember, it was just a game,” said Anna.
Suddenly, they heard a car door slam outside.
“Shh. Someone’s here,” said Brenda.
“I hope it’s not my parents!” cried Anna.
“Hurry! Shut off the lights!” said Tina.
The girls quickly shut off the flashlights and slowly peeked out the window.
“ Who’s that old man?” asked Cassie.
“Oh, don’t worry about him. That’s just Bob. He lives across the street,” said Anna.
“So who is that guy anyway?” asked Elizabeth.
“Well, nobody really knows. He’s lived there for years and keeps to himself. Nobody really knows anything about him,” said Anna.
“He looks creepy to me,” said Dana.
It seemed the old man had just gotten home. He was unloading something heavy from the back of his old blue pick-up truck. He tried to carry it and was struggling under the weight, so he dropped it and drug it across the wet grass.
“What is he doing?” asked Susan.
“What is that thing?” whispered Brenda.
The girls watched curiously, as Bob dragged the object across the yard. As he came out of the trees and entered a stream of moonlight the girls saw, to their horror, what the object was. The body of a girl about their age was being drug, lifeless, into the front door of the man’s house.
The girls jumped back from the window in shock and terror. Susan and Elizabeth began to cry.
“What are we going to do?” pleaded Cassie.
“We can’t let him see us!” said Tina.
“We’ll have to sneak out,” said Anna.
Just then Brenda, who had returned to the window, said, “Hey, guys! He’s back outside.”
The girls all crowded around the window, eager to see what he would do next. He was at the back of his pick-up closing the tailgate. As he turned to go back to his house, he stopped suddenly in his front yard. Slowly his head turned, and his eyes met those of the girls in the window. He slowly raised his index finger to his lips and mouthed the word “SHhhh…”
