STEM Activity
5th graders at BES completed a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) project before Thanksgiving break. They were instructed to design and build a Pilgrim shelter using the following contraints:
1. shelter must be large enough to contain one or more Pilgrims – use only the materials provided
2. shelter must have a way for the Pilgrim to enter and exit – build time: 30 minutes
3. shelter must protect the Pilgrim(s) from wind, rain, and snow – structure must stand alone (i.e. can’t be propped against a wall)
