2nd Grade Teacher
I graduated from Satanta Junior-Senior High School in 1988.
I received my Associate's Degree from Garden City Community College and transferred to Fort Hays State University where I received my Bachelor's of Science Degree in Education in 1994.
I started teaching Transitional First grade in Russell in 1994. I then moved to 1st grade and rotated between 1st and 2nd for a few years. When the school district stopped rotating teachers between grades, I landed in 2nd grade. I absolutely love teaching 2nd grade. Everyday in my classroom is a new adventure!!!
I am a proud, single mother of a beautiful daughter, Kierra Cherie Mitchell. Kierra was born and raised right here in beautiful Russell, where she graduated with honors in May of 2015. Kierra has decided to pursue her quest for a higher education at the University of Kansas, in Lawrence.
I am also the proud owner of three very yippy, yet spunky Pomeranians. Two males, Taz and Jax and one female named Mekah. Each is extremely spoiled and well loved. They are definitely my fur babies!
My daughter Kierra is easily my priority. I spend as much time with her as possible. This task is especially difficult since she has moved to KU. When she is not around, I enjoy traveling to Oklahoma and Nebraska to visit family and friends. I enjoy playing with my three Pomeranians Mekah, Taz and Jax. A little known fact about me is that I love to work Sudoku puzzles.
